THE FARMER BEHIND

The canton of Peréz Zeledón in the Brunca region in southern Costa Rica is an emerging growing area for specialty coffee. At elevations between 1200 and 1700 meters, often on the slopes of the Talamanca mountain range, volcanic soils and a humid tropical climate produce well balanced full-bodied coffees with chocolate, caramel, raisins and fruity flavor notes.

The region is characterized by many smallholder farmers and cooperatives, therefore all resources generated are distributed among a large number of people. The Small Farm Holders are true artisans, continuously refining their craft to produce the highest-quality beans. From farm to cup, they focus on precision and care at every step of the process.

Costa Rica in general places a strong emphasis on sustainability and ethical coffee production. But especially these small farms are committed to environmentally responsible practices, ensuring minimal impact on nature. These efforts not only preserve the planet but also support local communities.
